Kate Schaefer, also know as “the crazy goat lady” or “the gal who is always non-stop” – any are valid! Kate's agriculture background started with her family farm, Schaefer Farms Boer Goats (SF). SF is a 200-head Boer meat goat farm, located just outside of Adel, IA. As a family, they travel near and far chasing local jackpot and national shows. Each outing is a memory maker with lessons learned each time.

While following her passion for agriculture at Adel DeSoto Minburn High School, Kate was most involved with FFA.  She served as the FFA Chapter President both Junior and Senior year and hung up the jacket for the final time as an Iowa FFA State Officer, serving as a Vice President.  Her Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) project was based on Goat Production, which correlates to the activities she participates in and leads in the Junior Iowa Meat Goat Association (JIMGA). 

Kate currently serves as the JIMGA President for her fourth term and can commonly be found mentoring youth at goat shows and other events at the local, state and national level.  She also serves on the Junior American Boer Goat Association (JABGA) Board of Directors and enjoys helping exhibitors find their success. 

She was recently chosen as the National Miss United States Agriculture, where she has been given the opportunity to continue her advocacy for agriculture in a whole new way.
